This policy explains how Scintessa uses cookies. In short: we use only the cookies we need to run the saleroom, and none for advertising or tracking.

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between pages and visits — for example, that you are signed in. Similar technologies (such as your browser’s local storage) work in comparable ways; where we refer to “cookies” below, we mean cookies and those similar technologies.
We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal. Scintessa sets only strictly necessary (essential) cookies — the ones required for the site to work and for you to sign in, place bids and pay. We do not use advertising, marketing, analytics or third-party tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share your browsing activity for advertising.
Because these cookies are essential to a service you have asked for, they don’t require consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We still ask for your choice, and set it out here, so you always know what is stored on your device.

We may also rely on short-lived, strictly necessary cookies set by our hosting platform to keep the service secure and available (for example, to balance load or protect against abuse). These do not track you across sites.
We don’t embed advertising networks, social-media trackers or analytics tags that set cookies. Some pages display images and certificates hosted by us or by independent gemmological laboratories; these are used to show you a lot and are not used to profile you.
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the notice shown on your first visit; you can also control cookies through your browser settings, including deleting cookies already stored and blocking new ones. Because our cookies are essential, blocking them will stop you from signing in and bidding, and parts of the site may not work.

If we introduce any new cookies — for example, optional analytics — we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before they are set. Please check back from time to time; the date at the top shows when this policy was last revised.
